The Internet of Things; 3-D printing; advanced, pervasive, and invisible analytics; context-rich systems; and risk-based security and self-protection are just a few of the geeky gadgets that tech giants hope will inspire the inner nerd of brand marketers this year.
“In digital business you must change your relationship with risk. Digital risk is not something to mitigate but rather embrace,” said Darryl Plummer, managing vice president of Gartner. “Treat your ability to manage specific risks as a competency and capability. Accepting risk is Ok; ignoring risk is tragic.”
However, one of the most innovative technologies that’s capturing the attention of brand marketers is the new 3D system. At the International CES, an annual electronics and technology trade show held in Las Vegas, Sudbury Northern Life’s staff writer Mallika Viegas found “Geeks Gawking Gadgets” such as the 3D printer to be one of the show’s biggest winners.
“For 3D systems, the technology has been an overnight success with 3D shoes, jewelry, makeup, and customized skateboards,” said Viegas. “3D manufacturers have really harnessed the 3D capabilities.”
